Saurabh Shukla

Saurabh Shukla is a National-Award winning Indian stage and film actor, known extensively for his supporting roles in films like Satya (1998), Yuva (2004), Barfi! (2012), Jolly LLB (2013), Kick (2014), PK (2014), Jolly LLB 2 (2017) and Raid (2018). His most iconic film role till date is that of Kallu Mama, a gangster in the 1998 film ‘Satya’. He even co-wrote the script with Anurag Kashyap, for which he even won the Star Screen Award for Best Screenplay alongside Kashyap.

Even though he has worked in films spread across all genres, Saurabh Shukla maintains that he has mostly played comic roles, even in serious films.

His first big break came through Shekhar Kapur when he offered him a supporting role in Bandit queen.

Shukla’s mother was Jogmaya Shukla, the first female Tabla player of India, and his father was a vocalist from the Agra Gharana. His wife, Barnali Ray Shukla is a Bollywood writer and Director.
