Stewart Copeland

Stewart Armstrong Copeland is an American musician and composer. He rose to prominence as the drummer of the British rock band ‘The Police’. He was ranked the 10th best drummer of all time by Rolling Stone in 2016. Stewart Armstrong Copeland was born in Alexandria, Virginia in 1952.

Copeland's equipment includes Tama drums, Paiste cymbals and Remo drum heads. Before ‘The Police’, Copeland worked as road manager for the progressive rock band Curved Air's 1974 reunion tour. Later, he became their drummer for the band in 1975 and 1976. Copeland founded the Police in 1977 with lead singer-bass guitarist Sting and guitarist Henry Padovani, and they became one of the top bands of the late 1970s and early 1980s. After the Police disbanded, Copeland established a career composing soundtracks for movies.
